About GroundRoots

GroundRoots Healing is a collective of change agents committed to building a community rooted in connection and healing.  We were co-founded by four Women of Color: Jayshree Surage, Laura Tashjian, Lian Mosher and Salena Jacob. We came together in 2020 in solidarity during a time of profound violence in our community, society and government systems to imagine and create a new way.

OUR MISSION

We seek to empower the voices of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) and offer tools for inner resilience including centering, connection, breath and radical compassion to confront the deep wounds of injustice and remember our shared humanity.  We are grounded by the multi-dimensional wisdom of yoga, a respect for the Earth, and a steadfast commitment to participate with courage in the dynamic changes currently taking place in our world.

How we do it?

  • We offer free and accessible yoga and meditation.

  • We collaborate with holistic healers & local organizations.

  • We provide safe space for connection & meaningful dialogue.

  • We donate 50% of proceeds to grassroots organizations committed to social change

  • We seek to educate and empower.  We host events and workshops to celebrate diversity and uplift communities

  • We appreciate and honor ancient yoga traditions and other tools of healing.

How you can join?

  • Are you a passionate change agent in your community? What moves your soul to action or breaks your heart?

  • What skills would you like to offer your community to create deeper possibilities for healing? Dialogue? Awareness? Peace?

  • Each month we feature 4 guest teachers on our schedule and are open to collaborative projects. Write to us and tell us 1) The offering you would like to share or how you see a collaboration growing? 2) If you have a preferred organization you’d like to support, other than our featured group? 3) Your availability
